Program Overview
MA Inclusive Education
The MA Inclusive Education is a flexible course designed for individuals interested in critically exploring inclusive education. The program offers a full-time and part-time route, as well as an offsite provision, allowing students to study at a place and pace that suits them.
Course Overview
The course appeals to a variety of backgrounds and professions, including early years practitioners, teachers, leaders in education, local authority, health services, and aspiring researchers. Students will analyze key issues, significant debates, and global concepts in the field of inclusive education, reflecting on their personal understandings of special educational needs and considering the relationship between educational values and the development of inclusive practice.
Course Structure
The course consists of four core modules, including a dissertation. Students will study:
- Perspectives, Policy and Practice in Inclusive Education
- Conceptualise, Critique, Create: Thinking with theory in inclusive education
- Principles and Practice of Educational Research
- Policy, Politics and Practice in Education
The final part of the master's is a dissertation, where students will design and carry out a research project of their own, with guidance from an expert teaching and support team.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the course, students must have a relevant first degree, postgraduate diploma, or professional qualification recognized as equivalent to an undergraduate UK honors degree of at least a 2:2. Other qualifications or experience may be considered.
Advanced Standing
Students who have completed a PGCE or NASENCo within the last five years can normally join the course with advanced standing, completing less units to achieve their MA.
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must have IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any category, or an equivalent accepted English qualification.
Fees and Funding
The tuition fees for the course are:
- UK and Channel Island students: £10,250 per year (full-time), £1709 per 30 credits (part-time)
- EU and non-EU international students: £20,000 per year (full-time), £3334 per 30 credits (part-time)
