Overview
The BA (Hons) Languages degrees with a Foundation Year (Stream A - Linguistics, and Language combinations with English) is designed for students who have the potential to study at degree level but do not meet the entry requirements. The foundation year provides a bridge to degree-level study, laying the groundwork for entry into Year 1 of the chosen linked degree.
Course Information
The foundation year consists of modules designed to build confidence and bring students up to speed for the rest of their chosen degree. Students will study Academic Practice modules, which help develop study skills for learning at degree-level, as well as three humanities modules.
Entry Requirements
- Typical offer: 72-80 UCAS tariff points
- IELTS score: 5.5 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of course start date
- UK students:
- Level 3 qualifications: 72-80 UCAS tariff points
- Level 2 qualifications: GCSE grade D/3 in English Language or Level 2 Functional Skills English pass
- International students:
- IB Diploma: minimum 24 points overall or 72-80 UCAS Tariff points from Higher Level
- IELTS: 5.5 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of course start date
