Program Overview
BA (Hons) Marketing
The BA (Hons) Marketing degree at Manchester Metropolitan University is designed to prepare students for a successful career in one of the world's most dynamic and creative industries. Course Overview
Marketing is a business function with the power to shape everything from sales and customer service to product development and brand loyalty. The best marketers see the big picture, identifying opportunities to communicate and influence audiences and spot threats that could damage their brands. This marketing degree explores the business landscape, taking those opportunities and avoiding those threats.
Year 1
In the first year, students will study two 15-credit modules and three 30-credit modules, including:
- Fundamentals of Marketing Management: introducing the fundamentals of marketing, including marketing orientation and practice, the marketing environment, marketing research, and digital marketing.
- Ethics, Sustainability, and Responsibility in Marketing: examining the societal and environmental impacts of marketing decisions and learning to balance profit with social responsibility.
- Fundamentals of Digital Marketing: exploring the fundamental principles of digital marketing, including digital platforms, reaching and engaging target audiences, analyzing performance metrics, and optimizing marketing efforts.
- Fundamentals to Consumer Psychology and Behaviour: providing a comprehensive introduction to the psychological principles that underpin consumer behavior.
- Digital Literacy and Academic Competency: equipping students with essential digital skills and academic competency, emphasizing their importance in academic, personal, and professional contexts.
Year 2
In the second year, students will study three 30-credit modules and two 15-credit modules, including:
- Digital Campaign Management: equipping students with the knowledge and skills to enhance a brand's presence in the digital landscape.
- Building Your Professional Profile: supporting the ongoing development of students' personal and professional profiles, building awareness of, and readiness for, graduate-level roles, entrepreneurship, and postgraduate studies.
- Behavioural Drivers in Marketing: investigating the cognitive and emotional processes that drive consumer choices and actions.
- Marketing Research & Data Analysis: deepening students' understanding of marketing research methodologies and data analysis techniques.
Year 3
In the third year, students will study six 15-credit modules (four core modules and two option units) and one 30-credit unit, including:
- Strategic Brand Management: exploring strategies for tackling global business challenges and managing brands effectively on an international scale.
- Graduate Futures: Leadership and Success: supporting students' continued academic development and preparing them for positive graduate outcomes.
- Driving Marketing Innovation Through Creativity: exploring innovation in marketing through creative thinking.
Study and Assessment
- Year 1: 25% scheduled; 75% independent
- Year 2: 25% scheduled; 75% independent
- Year 3: 20% scheduled; 80% independent
- Assessment: 100% coursework in all years

Entry Requirements
- Typical offer: 120-128 UCAS tariff points
- IELTS score: 6.0 overall with no individual element below 5.5
- UK students: Level 3 qualifications, including GCE A levels, Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma, Access to HE Diploma, UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma, OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma, and T level
- International students: IB Diploma with minimum 30 points overall or 120 UCAS Tariff points from three Higher Level subjects
