Program Overview
BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS
The BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS is a three-year undergraduate degree that aims to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and understanding required to become a primary school teacher. The course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in primary teaching, including the development of subject knowledge, pedagogy, and professional practice.
Course Overview
The course is structured to provide students with a balance of theoretical and practical learning experiences. In the first year, students will explore the different ways in which children learn and how curricula provide schools with a coherent wider vision for successful learning. They will also develop skills in planning and delivering lessons within core and foundation subjects and go on their first placement, where they will plan learning, assess pupil progress, and teach a class.
In the second year, students will develop their research skills, analyzing and understanding the latest educational research and theories. They will also have a block placement, where they will take on the role of a class teacher, building the percentage of time leading lessons and developing their adaptive teaching skills.
In the final year, students will embark on their final placement, where they will be building to teaching 80% of the timetable, becoming a class teacher by planning, teaching, and assessing their pupils' achievements. They will also complete a Level 6 research project, which gives them the chance to dive into particular areas of interest and focus on the aspects they have most enjoyed learning on the course.

The course is divided into three years, with each year comprising a mix of lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical skills sessions, and workshops. The course includes the following core modules:
