BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching and Development

The BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching and Development degree is designed to challenge perceptions, ideas, and understanding of sport coaching and development. Year 1

During the first year, students are introduced to the key discipline areas within the degree programme. Units typically include:

Year 2

The second year encourages students to build upon their knowledge of sport development, sporting issues, and coaching practice, applying research methods and supporting theories to their studies. Modules typically include:

Year 3

In the final year of study, students build the knowledge and skillset required to secure graduate employment. Modules typically include:

• Individual Project in Sport and Exercise
• Option modules such as Contemporary Issues in Sport Coaching, Sport Conditioning and Performance Analysis, Practical Experience in Community Sport, and Global Sporting Perspectives

Study and Assessment

• Study: 25% lectures, seminars, or similar; 75% independent study
• Assessment: 100% coursework

Placements

Students can opt to spend their third year getting a taste of professional life in a sport or health-related organisation with the four-year placement route.

Entry Requirements

• Typical offer: 112-120 UCAS tariff points
• IELTS score: 6.0 with no component below 5.5
• UK students: 112-120 UCAS tariff points from Level 3 qualifications, with specific requirements for GCSE English and Mathematics
• International students: Pass the IB Diploma with minimum 28 points overall or 112 UCAS Tariff points from three Higher Level subjects, with specific requirements for English and Mathematics

Tuition fees for the 2026/27 academic year are still being finalised. Information on 2025/26 standard undergraduate fees for UK/Channel Islands and EU/Non-EU international students is available.
