  • Having an honours degree at 2:2 or above, having studied at honours level, or demonstrating appropriate knowledge and skills at honours degree standard.

  • Assessment, Care and Management of the Acutely Ill Individual: Enhances knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiological effects of acute illness or traumatic injury, examining current evidence and developments in this field of care.

Placements

Students are required to undertake practice-based learning and assessment, which will normally be within their own emergency care setting. However, if core competencies are not achievable, alternative settings must be arranged to meet these competencies.


Fees and Finance

  • Tuition Fees - part-time: This course may be eligible for funding from NHS England, with employers able to draw on CPD funding. If not eligible for funding, the tuition fee for 2025/26 entry is £1,480 (Band 2) per 30 credit module.
  • Tuition fees cover the cost of study at the University, including registration, tuition, supervision, and examinations.

Career Support

This short course assists in meeting specialist skills and post-registration development requirements stipulated by employers or professional regulators. Upon completion, students may wish to APL the 60 credits from the Postgraduate Certificate and undertake further modules to complete the Health Studies MSc (180 credits).
