Program Overview
Overview
The Advanced Clinical Practice MSc is a Health Education England accredited course that enables students to meet the four pillars of professional practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research. The course provides theoretical and clinically focused education and training to support the expansion of practice and the development of new skills.

Entry Requirements
- Current registration on Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register, Health and Care Professions Council, or the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- A period of 3 years post-registration experience is required.
- A first degree in the specialism or another relevant health-related subject is also required, or other evidence of the ability to study at postgraduate level.
- If the first language is not English, students must meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no element lower than 5.5.

- Core Clinical Assessment, Skills and Decision-making for Advanced Practice
- Fundamentals of Contemporary Advanced Practice
- One of the following:
- Developing Advanced Practice in the Workplace
- Developing Advanced Practice in the Workplace (Cancer Care)
- Developing Advanced Practice in the Workplace (Critical Care)
- Developing Advanced Practice in the Workplace (Emergency Care)
- Developing Advanced Practice in the Workplace (Mental Health Care)
- Developing Advanced Practice in the Workplace (Primary Care)
- Core modules:
- Plus one of the following:
- Independent and Supplementary Prescribing (compulsory for students who can register as an Independent Prescriber with their professional body)
- Alternative modules for professional groups unable to register as Independent Prescribers or students already qualified as Independent Prescribers, such as:
- Caring for children and young people
- Electrocardiograph (ECG) Monitoring and Interpretation
- Long Term Conditions Management (Diabetes, COPD, Long COVID, and Frailty)
- Managing Minor Injuries
- Personal and Practice Development
- Core modules:
- Advancing Clinical Practice Project
- Advanced Practice Portfolio of Evidence
Placements
- Students must be working in a clinical placement within primary or secondary care and require an educational supervisor and workplace supervisors.
Fees and Finance
- Part-time tuition fees for UK postgraduate students in 2024/25: £825 (Band 4) per 15 credit module and £1,650 (Band 4) per 30 credit module.
- Tuition fees for subsequent years of study may rise in line with inflation (RPI-X).
