The MSc in Business Intelligence and Analytics is designed for students with an interest in analytics, data visualization, and business decision-making. This program aims to enhance knowledge and understanding of analytics techniques that support modern business needs.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements for this course are normally:

• An Honours degree (2:2 or above), or equivalent qualification, in any subject.
• Applicants with other appropriate professional qualifications and/or experience will be considered on an individual basis.
• If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification. The minimum for IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent.

Modules

You will study the following modules:

Core Modules

• Statistics and Simulation Modelling: This module introduces you to the field of Statistics and Simulation modelling, covering topics such as Linear regression, Multiple regression, forecasting, and discrete event simulation modelling.
• Management Science Modelling: This module introduces you to the field of management science modelling, including spreadsheet modelling, optimization, linear programming network models, and nonlinear optimization models.
• Managing Big Data: This module introduces the field of Big Data, sources, management, and visualization, evaluating a range of features in the area and providing opportunities to work with multiple online and offline data sets.
• Data Analysis and Visualisation: This module introduces students to the field of Data Science, focusing on Big Data and its visualization, and enables students to devise, employ, justify, and explain a piece of research to an audience of academics or professional business people.
• Intelligent Business Information Systems: This module reviews the principles and applications of information systems and business intelligence in different types of businesses and organizations.
• The Global Professional: This module fosters transferable skills fundamental to global employability, guiding professional and personal development through the application of the eight CIPD Behaviours and key Intercultural Effectiveness skills and mindsets.

Final Project

An opportunity to pursue an area that interests you or which you are passionate about comes in your choice of project. You have a choice of three routes: Research Route, Consultancy Route, and Entrepreneurship Route (subject to tutor approval).

Fees and Finance

• The full-time tuition fee for UK postgraduate students on this course will be £9,900 (Band 3) in 2025/26.
