The Business Management with Finance BA(Hons) degree is designed to equip students with the specialist finance skills to manage businesses in multiple industries effectively.   • Accounting for Managers (Foundation): Introduces students to how financial information for businesses is prepared, presented, and interpreted.
  • Global Business Management: Explores pressing global issues, such as globalisation, climate change, and sustainability, that businesses face in their operations.
  • Principles of Marketing: Develops understanding of the principles and practice of contemporary marketing management.
  • Organisational Behaviour: Provides an introduction to key concepts, theories, and research in the field of organisational behaviour.
  • Foundations of Finance: Introduces students to the main characteristics of finance and financial management.

Year 2 Core Modules

  • ASPIRE 2 – Live Business Project: Develops knowledge, skills, and experience to develop a professional profile, with a centrepiece of a live project or real business challenge.
  • Banking with Financial Markets: Examines contemporary issues in banking and financial markets.
  • Financial Technology and Control Environment: Introduces students to the wider legal, ethical, and economic implications of using financial technology.
  • Applied Project Management: Provides a firm foundation in project management, focusing on the tools and techniques of project planning and control.

Year 2 Option Modules

  • Business and Societal Impact: Explores the integration of business models into society, with a focus on social impact and social value creation.
  • Data Analysis for Business: Develops skills to identify fake data, understand the role of technology in strategic decision-making, and practice using statistical software.
  • Creating a New Business: Explores the theory and practices that inform and enable business start-up and small enterprise development.
  • People Management: Focuses on the people skills needed to support teams, enhance job satisfaction, well-being, loyalty, and commitment.

Year 3 Core Modules

  • ASPIRE 3 – Professional Portfolio: Focuses on the transition from higher education to the workplace, with an emphasis on career aspirations and professional development.
  • Investment, Portfolio And Risk Management: Looks at investment analysis and portfolio management using an innovative experiential learning environment.
  • Global Financial Management: Introduces students to different finance, accounting, and economic dimensions of multinational financial management.
  • Strategic Management: Engages with future-shaping strategy and emergent strategic ideas, such as business models, open strategy, and ecosystems.

Year 3 Option Modules

  • Climate Economics and Finance: Explores climate change issues and develops quantitative skills to evaluate the impact of climate change on the economy and business organisations.
  • E-Commerce: Develops understanding of the electronic economy and how changes in the electronic landscape and technology shape business development and success.
  • Human Resource Development: Explores how training and developing employees can add value to an organisation, with a focus on HRD interventions and theories.
  • Business and Climate Change: Examines the complex relationship between business and climate change, with a focus on the political and policy context surrounding the climate crisis.
  • International Marketing: Develops understanding of marketing theory and principles within the international or global business arena.

Placements

The course offers an optional one-year (48 weeks) work placement after the second year, in the UK or abroad. The Placement Office works with national and international employers to ensure excellent work experience opportunities.


Fees and Finance

  • Tuition Fees - full-time: The maximum fees for UK-based students on undergraduate courses in 2025/26 will be £9,535 per year for full-time students.
