Education (Leadership and Management) MA
The Education (Leadership and Management) MA is designed for individuals currently in a position of responsibility in the education or public service sector who aspire to take on more leadership roles. This course focuses on developing students' effectiveness as managers by considering wider theories, research, and strategies while also developing their skills as leaders.
Overview
- The course explores the role of the leader, how that role links to and differs from management, and the development that may be required.
- Students will reflect upon their personal professional practice, considering current theories and research about learning and development through a variety of teaching and learning strategies.
- The course is tailored around the student, allowing them to expand on their teaching and learning focus by choosing from a range of options to match their role, experience, or organization.
Key Information
Entry Requirements
- Students should have an honors degree in a relevant subject at 2:2 or above, or a professional equivalent.
- The University determines whether a degree can be recognized as UK equivalent.
- If the first language is not English, students will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no element lower than 5.5.

- Developing Effective Leadership: This module provides a structured opportunity for students to systematically consider and critically reflect upon leadership as a concept and "effective leadership" in particular.
- Methods of Enquiry: This module develops and deepens students' knowledge and understanding of research methods in both academic and professional contexts.
- Dissertation (Leadership and Management): This module helps students design and develop a piece of individual research into a current work-related or contemporary issue or problem related to educational leadership and management.

Fees and Finance
Tuition Fees - Full-Time
- In 2025/26, the full-time tuition fee for UK postgraduate students on this course will be £7,900 (Band 1).
- Tuition fees for UK students will cover the cost of study at the University.
Tuition Fees - Part-Time
- In 2025/26, the part-time tuition fee for UK postgraduate students on this course will be £660 (Band 1) per 15 credit module and £1,320 (Band 1) per 30 credit module.
- Tuition fees for UK students will cover the cost of study at the University.
