Entry Requirements

• All entrants are normally required to hold an intermediate level qualification (gained by examination) or equivalent.
• Broadly, such qualifications can include:
  • Higher National Diploma (or equivalent)
  • An initial teaching qualification from a recognized teacher education institution
  • Successful completion of a Higher Education qualification with 120 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits (or equivalent)
• Preference is for an appropriate subject such as Education or Childhood. However, the basic criterion will be a person's ability to benefit from the program, so consideration will be given to holders of alternative recognized degrees or diplomas.
• English language competence is required, with general entry criteria for this course being International English Language Test System (IELTS) 6.0 or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 87.

Core Modules

• Leadership and Management in Professional Contexts: This module seeks to develop students' understanding of theories of leadership, management, and the organization of professional practice.
• Planning Your Final Year Project: This module helps students learn how to design and conduct a final year project, exploring a range of research and design approaches, strategies, and methods.
• Final Year Project: This module allows students to pursue their academic and work-related interests, demonstrating the breadth of knowledge, understanding, and strengths developed during their degree studies.

Option Modules

• Critical Approaches to Inclusive Education: Students examine definitions and different understandings of inclusion and models of disability, considering a national and global context.
• Helping in Context (Counselling, Coaching, and Mentoring): This module develops students' understanding of theories concerning counseling, coaching, and mentoring, improving their effectiveness in responding to and working with the needs of individuals.
• Human Resource Development and Training: This module introduces the theories and practices of human resource development, helping students understand the theoretical considerations in organizing and delivering training.
• Supporting Social, Emotional, and Mental Health in Education: Students explore the context of and responses to a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs in educational settings.

Teaching and Assessment

• Students are taught through a series of lectures, seminars, tutorials, and interactive workshops.
• On average, 17% of the study time on the course is spent with tutors in lectures, seminars, tutorials, etc.
• Assessment takes place through a variety of seminars, essays, presentations, independent research, discussions, and delivering teaching/training using digital technologies.

Fees and Finance

Tuition Fees - Full-time

• The maximum fees for UK-based students on undergraduate courses in 2025/26 will be £9,535 per year for full-time students (subject to parliamentary approval).
• Tuition fees will cover the cost of study at the University, including charges for registration, tuition, supervision, and examinations.

• The University offers professional help, support, and guidance through the Careers and Employability Service, including industry-supported workshops and one-to-one guidance sessions.
• Students can also pursue further study, with the University offering a number of taught Master's courses in the subject area of Education.
