Overview

The Global Marketing (Top-up) BA(Hons) program is designed for students who have already studied marketing and business. This one-year top-up course aims to help students gain the skills and knowledge to compete on a global scale in the field of marketing.

Entry Requirements

  • Normally, one of the following:
    • HND or equivalent program which includes an introduction to Business and Marketing
    • Foundation degree or 120 ECTS
  • If the first language is not English, students will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent.

Course Detail

Year 1

  • Core modules:
    • International Marketing: Develops understanding of marketing theory and principles within the international or global business arena.
    • Managing Across Cultures: Explores how culture affects business and management, enabling students to compare cultures systematically.
    • Strategy in Context: Provides an understanding of how organizations develop their strategies in relation to different aspects of their environment.
    • International Business: Considers the fundamental issue of competitiveness and helps students consider strategic business responses to globalization.
  • Option modules (choose from a list which may include):
    • Marketing Undergraduate Dissertation: An in-depth piece of academic research on a subject of the student's choice relating to global marketing.
    • Marketing for Small Business: Combines themes of marketing, entrepreneurship, and small business management.
    • Strategic Retailing: Investigates various elements included in retail strategy.
    • Environmental Management: Equips students with tools and techniques for managing environmental performance.
    • E-Commerce: Organizes and executes business activities and specific transactions on electronic platforms.
    • Digital Campaigns and Communications: Develops and integrates knowledge of concepts, theories, and practices associated with digital marketing.

Teaching and Assessment

  • On average, 17% of study time is spent with tutors in lectures, seminars, workshops, etc.
  • Study and assessments are based on the choice of modules.
  • Feedback is normally provided on all coursework submissions within three term-time weeks.
