Course Detail

Core Modules

Fundamentals of Management

The Fundamentals of Management module focuses on the fundamentals of why organisations exist and what organisations ‘do’. It covers core aspects of the management of a company such as strategic decision making, marketing, accounting and finance, operations and human resource management.

Leading Managing and Developing People

This module explores the links between people management practices and positive organisational outcomes and how these are achieved in different types of organisational contexts. Focusing on leadership, flexibility and change management, the aim is to help students become effective strategic managers as well as effective HR specialists.

Reward Management

This module aims to develop specific skills in analysing reward management practices in organisations. It considers how to strategically use reward as a mechanism for improving productivity and engagement.

Fundamentals of Leadership

The Fundamentals of Leadership module focuses on understanding leadership in organisations. Students have an opportunity to develop an appreciation of the ‘softer’ side of business such as people management, communication, leadership skills, diversity and performance management.

Managing Employee Relations

This module provides a comprehensive understanding of employment relations perspectives and debates, focusing not just on the theoretical, practical and legislative aspects of this constantly evolving subject area but also on managing employment relations strategies and their outcomes on organisational climate, employees and management.

The Global Professional

In today’s highly mobile and interconnected world of business, students will undoubtedly find themselves working with culturally diverse teams, partnerships and customer bases. This module fosters transferable skills fundamental to global employability.

Final Project

An opportunity to pursue an area that interests students or which they are passionate about comes in their choice of project. Students have a choice of three routes: Research Route, Consultancy Route and Entrepreneurship Route (subject to tutor approval).

Placements

This course offers students the chance to undertake a 6-month placement at the end of the taught element. A placement can help students build on the knowledge and skills developed on the course.

Fees and Finance

Tuition Fees - Full-time

If students are international students coming to study at the University of Huddersfield, they should visit the International Fees and Finance pages for full details of tuition fees and support available.

Career Support

Whether students are progressing from education or currently working within the industry, the postgraduate courses aim to provide students with the required knowledge, skills and experience; as well as challenge their approach to complex situations. By taking the opportunity for practical placement experience, team working opportunities and specialist knowledge of their chosen pathway, the University can help develop students’ ability to work collaboratively and apply theory to real-life situations.

Accreditations & Professional Links

Huddersfield Business School is an official HE Partner of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and students have the opportunity to gain an additional professional qualification from the CMI. The school is also an accredited member of AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Less than 6% of business schools worldwide have obtained this prestigious accreditation.
