Mechatronic Engineering BEng(Hons)
The Mechatronic Engineering BEng(Hons) course at the University of Huddersfield combines mechanical skills, smart electronics, and robotics with control systems to address a range of complex engineering projects, all with a focus on sustainability. Why Study Mechatronic Engineering BEng(Hons) at Huddersfield?
This course is designed to give students flexibility in their choice of engineering career pathways after graduation. During the first and second year, students will be part of the EnABLE (Engineering in an Activity-Based Learning Environment) program, which will provide them with an opportunity to work within professional teams of peers and solve real engineering problems.
Course Structure
- Year 1: Core modules include Engineering Communication and Materials, Mathematics, Manufacturing, Measurement and Diagnostics, Engineering Science, Mechatronics, and Professional Development and Transferrable Skills.
- Year 2: Core modules include Analysis of Materials, Signal Analysis and Control, Engineering Design, Thermofluids, Electrical Energy Conversion, and Manufacturing and Production Systems.
- Year 3: Optional placement year, allowing students to put their knowledge and skills to the test at sites in the UK and abroad.
- Final Year: Core modules include Dynamic Analysis and Control, Project Quality and Production Management, Electrical Power and Drive Systems, Digital Signal Processing Applications, and Final Year Project.
Placements
Students will have the chance to undertake an optional placement in Year 3. A placement year helps students build on the knowledge and skills developed on the course and can enhance employability.
Fees and Finance
The maximum fees for UK-based students on undergraduate courses in 2025/26 will be £9,535 per year for full-time students. Tuition fees will cover the cost of study at the University, as well as charges for registration, tuition, supervision, and examinations.
