Overview

The Oil and Gas Engineering MSc course at the University of Huddersfield is designed to develop students' skills and knowledge in oil and gas engineering, with a focus on advanced analytical elements and managerial skills. The course covers a range of foundational modules, including non-technical modules to develop students' managerial skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

• An Honours degree (2:1 or above) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Systems, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related science subject area or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Other qualifications or experience that demonstrate knowledge and skills at honours degree standard may be acceptable and will be considered on an individual basis.
• If the first language is not English, students will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no element lower than 5.5.

Teaching and Assessment

• Formal assessments are designed to measure students' achievements in meeting the learning outcomes of individual modules.
• A variety of assessment strategies will be used, depending on the type and nature of the module, including exams, in-class tests, reports on laboratory experiments, laboratory-based assignments, and projects.
• Feedback will be provided on all coursework submissions within three term-time weeks.

Fees and Finance

Tuition Fees - Full-time

• In 2025/26, the full-time tuition fee for UK postgraduate students on this course will be £9,900 (Band 3).
• Tuition fees for UK students will cover the cost of study at the University.

Accreditations and Professional Links

• The accredited MSc will meet, in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer.
• Accredited MSc graduates who also have a BEng (Hons) accredited for CEng will be able to show that they have satisfied the educational base for CEng registration.

Further Study

• Progression to postgraduate research is dependent on successful completion of studies.
