Program Overview


Occupational Therapy BSc(Hons)

The Occupational Therapy BSc(Hons) course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to become a qualified occupational therapist. The course is regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).


Course Overview

The course focuses on the practical, meaningful, and purposeful activities that allow people to develop a sense of identity. Occupational therapists work collaboratively with people to help them engage in occupations that they need or want to do, enabling them to lead fulfilling and healthy lives.


Entry Requirements

  • A Level: BBB-BBC, including one of the following A Levels: Biology, Human Biology, or Psychology, but excluding General Studies.
  • BTEC: DDM-DMM in Health and Social Care or Applied Science.
  • Merit in T Level in Health or Healthcare Science.
  • NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma/Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care at Grade B.
  • Pass a relevant Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits, 30 at Distinction and 15 at Merit.
  • 120-112 UCAS tariff points from International Baccalaureate qualifications, including Biology at Higher Level at grade 6.
  • GCSE English Language or English Literature and Maths at grade 4 or above, or grade C if awarded under the previous GCSE grading scheme, or equivalent Ofqual regulated qualification.

Placements

Practice education is an important and compulsory part of the course, with placements undertaken throughout the three years. Students are required to successfully complete 1000 hours of assessed professional practice in a range of health, social, and third sector care settings.


Fees and Finance

The maximum fees for UK-based students on undergraduate courses in 2025/26 will be £9,535 per year for full-time students. Students studying this course may be eligible to receive a non-repayable grant of at least £5,000 each year.
