Overview of the Paramedic Science (Degree Apprenticeship) BSc(Hons) Program
The Paramedic Science (Degree Apprenticeship) BSc(Hons) program is designed for Associate Ambulance Practitioners to become paramedics. This apprenticeship course enables students to develop the skills, knowledge, and professional attributes required to practice effectively as a paramedic in a complex and changing environment.

- Minimum of 2 years' experience in accident and emergency

Placements
Work-based learning is a compulsory element of the course, undertaken mainly in blocks. Students will work as part of an emergency ambulance crew supported by experienced paramedics and undertake non-ambulance placements in various clinical areas.
Career Opportunities
Successful completion of the course and passing the End Point Assessment provides the opportunity for learners to gain a BSc(Hons) in Paramedic Science and eligibility to apply for entry to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) register. The role of the paramedic has become increasingly varied, with opportunities in clinical, management, education, and research areas.
Accreditations & Professional Links
The course is regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS). Students are not required to register as a member with the HCPC during the course but must follow their standards of conduct, performance, and ethics.
Fees and Finance
As an apprentice, there is no tuition fee to pay for the higher or degree apprenticeship, as tuition fees are covered by the employer and the government through the Levy. Apprentices are considered paid employees and are not eligible for student loans.
