Business Analytics (HDA Top-up) MSc
The Business Analytics (HDA Top-up) MSc is a postgraduate program designed for students who have completed the Operational Research Specialist Apprenticeship and are looking to take the next step in their studies. Overview
The Business Analytics (HDA Top-up) MSc program is designed to build on the knowledge and skills acquired during the Operational Research Specialist Apprenticeship. The program focuses on the application of business analytics in the real world, with an emphasis on interpreting, analyzing, and presenting complex data to inform stakeholders and facilitate nuanced data-driven decision-making.
Entry Requirements
- Successful completion of a Operational Research Specialist Apprenticeship - Level 7
- You must have successfully completed all modules as part of PG Diploma and undertaken End Point Assessment (EPA)
- In order to top-up to a Master’s degree you must take an additional 60 credits as applicable, on payment of a top-up fee
- All applicants are considered on an individual basis and additional qualifications, professional qualifications and relevant experience may also be taken into account when considering applications

Course Structure
The following modules are what students will typically study, but this may change year to year in response to new developments and innovations.
- Stage 2: Higher and Degree Apprenticeships may opt to continue to Stage 2 in order to be eligible for the MSc Business Analytics by passing the module below
- Compulsory modules currently include the following:
- Business Analytics Research Project: How is business analytics applied in the real world? Guided by an academic supervisor and potentially collaborating with a company, you'll tackle diverse and intriguing practical challenges, ranging from analysing marketing campaigns to optimising capital investments and ranking credit risks
How You'll Study
- Teaching: Your studies for the MSc Top-Up will be in the same format as your apprenticeship. We'll a mix of asynchronous learning and schedule contact time with academics via MS Teams in order to support you as you go about your research project
- Assessment: You'll be assessed through written examination papers, coursework essays, in-course tests, reports and computational questions, computer-based assignments, dissertations/reports and presentations
