The YCT Oral Primary Exam is an international standardized test for Chinese language proficiency, designed to assess the ability of primary and secondary school students to use Chinese as a second language in their daily and academic life.


What is YCT?

  • YCT stands for Youth Chinese Test.
  • The YCT is divided into two independent tests: a writing test and a speaking test.
    • The writing test consists of four levels: YCT 1-4.

What is YCT Oral Primary

  • YCT Oral (Primary Level) assesses the test takers' oral Chinese language skills.
  • Those who pass YCT Oral (Primary Level) can comprehend and orally express themselves on familiar everyday topics in Chinese, meeting basic communicative needs.
  • The YCT Oral (Primary) exam is divided into three parts, comprising a total of 25 questions.
  • The exam duration is 19 minutes, including 7 minutes of preparation time.
  • The test start time is 11:00 (all local times).
  • The YCT Oral Test (Primary Level) has a maximum score of 100, and a passing score is 60 or higher.
