Introduction to HSKK Advanced Exam

The HSKK Advanced Exam is designed to assess test takers' oral Chinese skills. HSKK stands for Hanyu Shuiping Kouyu Kaoshi in Chinese, which translates to “Chinese Proficiency Speaking Test”.

What is HSKK?

• HSKK is conducted as an audio-recorded exam.
• The test is divided into three levels: Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced.
• The Newcastle University Confucius Institute Test Centre currently offers all three levels.

What is HSKK Advanced?

• HSKK Advanced is primarily aimed at those who have been learning Chinese for more than two academic years at a pace of 2-3 lessons per week and have mastered around 3,000 commonly used words.
• The HSKK Advanced consists of three sections, with a total of 6 questions.
• The duration of the exam is 25 minutes, including 10 minutes of preparation time.
• Test Start Time: 16:30.
• Achieving a full score entails earning 100 points, while a cumulative score of 60 or above qualifies as a passing mark.
• The HSKK scores are valid for two years, starting from the test date.
