Introduction to HSK 6 Exam

The HSK stands for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi in Chinese, which translates to “Chinese Proficiency Test”. It is an international standardized test for Chinese language proficiency organized by a specialized international Chinese language education and testing service company.

What is HSK?

• HSK is divided into 9 levels, and the Newcastle University Confucius Institute Test Centre currently offers levels 1 through 6.

What is HSK 6?

• HSK (Level 6) is designed for intermediate-level Chinese learners and proficient users who have developed specific listening, reading, and writing skills in Chinese.
• HSK (Level 6) has a total of 101 questions, divided into listening, reading, and writing sections.
• The entire exam takes about 140 minutes (including 5 minutes for candidates to fill in personal information).
• Test Start Time (All local times): 09:00.
• The HSK (Level 6) score report provides four scores: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Total.
• Achieving a full score entails earning 300 points.
• The HSK scores are valid for two years, starting from the exam date.
