Overview

The History MA program at Newcastle University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of historical eras and topics, spanning from the local to the global. The program builds on the research of expert historians and offers a breadth of understanding and insight across various eras and spaces.

• Archive handling sessions Module teaching runs from Monday to Friday, during the day and term time only. Students will have access to support from academic staff, personal tutors, and research supervisors, as well as the University Student Services Team.

Fees and Funding

Tuition fees for 2026 entry are:

• Home students: £11,400 (full-time), £5,700 (part-time)
• International students: £25,900 (full-time) The university offers a range of scholarships, including Vice-Chancellor's automatic and merit-based scholarships.

Entry Requirements

The program requires a 2:1 honors degree or international equivalent in history or a related subject. Applicants with non-standard qualifications and/or an appropriate level of experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered on an individual basis.

How to Apply

The program starts in September, and there is no application closing date. International students are advised to apply at least two months before the course starts. A deposit of £1,500 is required for international students who need a visa to study in the UK. The program code for the full-time MA is 4135F, and for the part-time MA is 4135P. ###
