Program Overview

The Road Safety Collision Prevention & Reduction, Road Safety Audits and Road Safety Policy Combined program is a comprehensive course that covers various aspects of road safety.

Program Structure

The program is divided into three modules:

• Road Safety Policy: This module provides an overview of the road collision problem in the UK and how it compares internationally. It also covers information on how road safety is part of transport policy, methods for managing safety processes, management, and research, and an introduction to recent road safety developments.
• Collision Prevention and Reduction: This module covers how road collisions are recorded, how collision data is used, stored, and interpreted, selecting and prioritising locations to investigate, defining the road collision problem, road safety schemes, options for treating collision problems, and estimating savings and economic benefits.
• Road Safety Audits: This module covers the road safety audit procedure, how to structure a road safety audit report, case studies, and a site visit.

Course Agenda

The course agenda includes:

• Module 1 of 3: Road Safety Policy: Learn how to structure a road safety audit report and identify common problems.
• Module 2 of 3: Collision Prevention and Reduction: Understand the scale and nature of the road accident problem in the UK, national and local transport policy, recent road safety developments, and how to manage the safety process.
• Module 3 of 3: Road Safety Audits: Learn how road accidents happen and are recorded, and how to use and interpret accident data to understand and prevent future accidents.
