Overview
The Applied Educational Psychology Doctorate (DAppEdPsy) is a full-time professional training programme that enables students to become registered educational psychologists in the UK. The programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
What You'll Learn

How You'll Learn
The programme uses a combination of traditional teaching methods and Enquiry-Based Learning, which involves working in small groups to take responsibility for individual and group learning. Assessment methods include essays, portfolios, theses, and presentations.
Your Development
The programme includes supervised practice placements in local authority educational psychology services, where students will work with schools, settings, and professionals to develop professional competencies and HCPC Standards of Proficiency.
- Placements in Year One will be in the North East, with opportunities to seek placements beyond the North East in Years Two and Three.
- Placement days will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Year One, and Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in Years Two and Three.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, students must have a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent in psychology, which is eligible for Graduate Basis for Registration of the British Psychological Society. They must also have at least one year of relevant, paid work experience at the point of application.
