Program Overview


Business and Law Accelerated Program

The Business and Law Accelerated Program is a collaborative program between the Collins College of Business and the College of Law, allowing selected students to complete their undergraduate degree and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in six years. Upon completion of all degree requirements for the bachelor's degree, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree with a major in Business and Law will be awarded.


Application Process

To apply for the Business and Law Accelerated Program, students must follow these steps:


  1. Schedule an appointment with a Student Success Coach during the first year (freshman year) to ensure they remain on track with undergraduate credits and coursework.
  2. Schedule an appointment with the College of Law's Office of Admissions to receive counseling on application requirements for the program.
  3. Take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) by October of the last fall semester before starting law school.
  4. Apply for admission to the College of Law by November 1 of the last fall semester before starting law school, including a personal statement that reflects clear goals and seriousness of purpose regarding law school and the ability to progress at an accelerated pace.
  5. Arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be written in support of their candidacy.
  6. Register with the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) between August 1 and November 1 of the last fall semester before starting law school.

Requirements

To be eligible for the Business and Law Accelerated Program, students must meet the following requirements:


  • A 3.2 undergraduate cumulative grade point average at the time of review
  • Comportment in a manner consistent with the expectations of the legal profession
  • Preference given to candidates whose LSAT score is equal to, or greater than, the 25th percentile LSAT score of the most recent entering class in the College of Law
  • Thorough completion of application forms and submission of all supporting documentation in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate the potential to be a successful law student through their level of achievement in a rigorous curriculum

On-going Obligation of Candidate

The accepted candidate must:


  • Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 at the conclusion of undergraduate coursework and prior to matriculation in the College of Law
  • Maintain comportment in a manner consistent with the expectations of the legal profession
  • Remain in good standing with The University of Tulsa
  • Arrange for updated transcripts to be sent to LSAC and the College of Law prior to law school matriculation

The Business and Law Accelerated Program requires 12 hours of upper-level business electives.
