Graduate Certificate in Health Services Administration

Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Health Services Administration provides essential skills and knowledge to excel in today’s dynamic healthcare landscape. The 12-credit hour certificate program consists of two required courses and two elective courses.

Required Courses

• HESA 511 – Managerial Concepts in HC Organizations: Develop essential managerial and teamwork skills for health services administrators. 3 credits.
• HESA 572 – Healthcare Systems: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the history, current state, and future of healthcare delivery systems in the US, including reimbursement models. 3 credits.

Elective Courses

• HESA 519 – Strategic Management & Marketing in Healthcare: Learn to formulate organizational mission, assess external environments, and implement effective strategies. 3 credits.
• HESA 534 – Health Analytics and Decision Support: Explore the theory, technology, and practical application of information systems in healthcare. 3 credits.
• HESA 552 – Revenue Cycle Management and Health Insurance: Examine healthcare reimbursement, Medicare, commercial insurance, and the shift to value-based purchasing. 3 credits.
• HESA 555 – Applications in Healthcare Finance: Learn the principles and techniques used in healthcare financial management, with a focus on capital acquisition. 3 credits.

Applicants to the Certificate in Health Services Administration must meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
• Minimum of one year of healthcare experience
