Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate

Overview

The Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate is designed for individuals who have completed a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and wish to pursue advanced practice in women's health. The program is tailored to the individual student's needs, taking into account their past academic work, experience, and goals.


Admission Criteria

To be eligible for the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate, applicants must meet the following criteria:


  • A completed University of Missouri-St. Louis Nursing CAS application
  • MSN or DNP degree from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Current professional licensure
  • Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) post-graduate certificate requires at least one year of inpatient pediatric nursing experience
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) post-graduate certificate requires at least one year of inpatient or outpatient psychiatric nursing or emergency room nursing experience

Certificate Requirements

Students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours of coursework from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Nursing. The required courses include:


  • NURSE 6518: Pathophysiology for Advanced Nursing Practice (3 credits)
  • NURSE 6520: Pharmacology for Advanced Nursing Practice (3 credits)
  • NURSE 6524: Health Assessment for Advanced Nursing Practice (3 credits)
  • NURSE 6530: Introduction to Diagnostic Reasoning (3 credits)
  • NURSE 6724: Foundations of Women's Health (3 credits)
  • NURSE 6746: Women's Health I (4 credits)
  • NURSE 6747: Women's Health II (4 credits)
  • NURSE 6954: Advanced Practice Nursing: Practicum I (1-4 credits)
  • NURSE 6955: Advanced Practice Nursing: Practicum II (1-4 credits)
  • NURSE 7954: Advanced Practice Nursing: Practicum III (1-4 credits)

All students must complete 8 credit hours of Practicum, with one credit hour equivalent to 75 clinical practice hours. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to apply for board certification exams in the advanced practice role and population for which they have been prepared.
