Modern European Studies Undergraduate Certificate

Program Requirements

The Modern European Studies Undergraduate Certificate requires four semesters of college work or the equivalent in a modern European foreign language. The program consists of 38 total hours, including:


  • 20 hours of language coursework
  • 12 hours of coursework selected from at least four of the following areas:
    • Anthropology
    • Art and Art History
    • English
    • History
    • Languages and Cultural Studies
    • Music
    • Philosophy
    • Political Science
  • 3 hours of an independent study course
  • 3 hours of HIST 1032: Topics in European Civilization: 1715 to the Present
