Microbiology & Cell Science
The University of Florida Department of Microbiology and Cell Science offers a Master of Science Degree and a Graduate Certificate in the field of Microbiome and Health. Choose Between the Microbiome/Host Interactions and Microbiome Quantitative Tracks
The Master of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science with a concentration in Microbiome in Health and Disease offers the choice between two tracks. Students must select a track but may take courses from the other track as electives.

- Literature Review
To graduate, all M.S. students must satisfactorily complete MCB 6900 – Final Literature Review and its required paper. The Literature Review Paper provides the opportunity for students to demonstrate the knowledge they gained during the program and their ability to apply it to current and emerging microbiology research.
Successful completion the Literature Review Paper as part of MCB6900 – Final Literature Review fulfills the University of Florida Graduate School's requirement of a comprehensive final exam. There is no additional examination.

Microbiome and Health
The Microbiome and Health Graduate Certificate is a 12-credit online program focused on the increasingly important study of microbiomes. This program will give you a deeper understanding of the microscopic ecosystems that exist all around just beyond our sight. You will acquire skills in understanding probiotics, antimicrobial resistance, and virology through a comprehensive study of the human gut microbiome, a focus on emerging pathogens, an exploration of the virome, and more.
