Introduction to the Digital Arts and Sciences Program

The Digital Arts and Sciences program at the University of Florida offers a unique blend of arts, communications, and technology. Admissions Requirements

Freshman & Lower Division Transfer Applicants

  • If you have 0-11 transferable college credits, review the Freshman admissions requirements.
  • If you have 12-59 transferable credits, review the Lower Division Transfer admission requirements.
  • Freshman (0-11 credits) and Lower Division Transfer Applicants (12-59 credits): You must complete all general education requirements and prerequisites prior to starting upper division coursework.
  • Upper division coursework begins every Fall and you will be required to submit a portfolio to the Digital Worlds Institute prior to beginning the Fall semester.

Upper Division & Second Bachelor’s Transfer Applicants

  • Upper Division Transfer (students with 60 or more college credits earned) and Second Bachelor’s Degree Seeking Applicants: Transfer admission to UF Online’s Digital Arts & Sciences program is offered every Fall and requires a portfolio submission.
  • After submitting the UF Online application to the UF Office of Admissions, you should then submit your portfolio for Departmental review.
  • All materials for the UF Online Application and the portfolio must be submitted prior to the File Completion Deadline.
  • Upper division applicants (students with 60 or more college credits earned) should have at least a 2.0 overall GPA and have completed 12 credits with at least a 2.5 GPA across the following categories:
    • Mathematics (3 credits required)
      • Precalculus Algebra (MAC 1140)
      • Or a higher-level math course.
    • Computer Science/Programming (3 credits required)
      • All COP, CAP, or CGS prefixes are acceptable.
    • Visual Design and Studio Art (3 credits required)
      • One course with an ART prefix required.
      • Examples include Design I (ART 1201C), Design II (ART 1203), Drawing I (ART 1300C), and Drawing II (ART 2301C).
    • Art Appreciation/History (3 credits required)
      • One course with an ARH prefix required.
      • Examples include Art Appreciation: American Diversity and Global Arts (ARH 2000), Principles and History of Art I (ARH 2050), Principles and History of Art II (ARH 2051).
