The MSN-Forensic Nursing program is designed to equip graduates with the skills to care for victims and perpetrators of traumatic events or criminal acts that result in trauma or death. This program focuses on the collection and documentation of forensic evidence related to traumatic events or criminal acts for use in civil or criminal legal proceedings.
Program Curriculum
The program consists of a 36-hour curriculum that includes a range of courses to prepare students for their roles in forensic nursing. One of the key courses, NURS 653 Advanced Health Assessment, requires students to attend two separate on-campus clinical experiences totaling 45 hours. These clinical experiences are designed to meet the clinical objectives of the course as set forth by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for any MSN degree.
Program Requirements
- Students are required to attend orientation and a limited number of class activities on the Bryan-College Station campus.
- For the NURS 653 Advanced Health Assessment course, students must attend two on-campus clinical experiences for a total of 45 hours.
- These clinical experiences are mandatory to meet the clinical objectives of the course.
- The clinical objectives are set by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for MSN degrees.
