Program Overview


Applied Scientific Computing

The Applied Scientific Computing graduate minor is designed for students working in scientific computation and is available from the graduate college of ISU. This degree recognizes the student's educational focus on computation, in addition to their major degree.


Objectives

The objectives of the minor in Applied Scientific Computing are to:


  • Train students in the techniques of high performance computing for science and engineering applications
  • Expose students to application areas beyond their immediate research
  • Share experience and expertise across disciplinary boundaries
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary research that relies on numerical simulation

Students in this program are expected to be engaged in research that applies large scale, high performance computer simulation to areas of science and engineering.
