Introduction to the Online Master of Science in Analytics

The Online Master of Science in Analytics (OMS Analytics) is a top-5 nationally ranked data science and analytics program offered by Georgia Tech. This interdisciplinary degree program leverages three of Georgia Tech's top-ranked colleges: the College of Computing, the College of Engineering, and the Scheller College of Business. The program provides world-class instruction in machine learning/AI, statistical modeling and learning, data storage and pipelining, data visualization, optimization and simulation, and business analytics/applications.

Program Overview

• The OMS Analytics program is designed for working professionals, offering a flexible format and 100% online learning convenience.
• The program can be completed in 24-36 months, with the same faculty and curriculum as the on-campus program (selected electives).
• There are three specialized OMS Analytics tracks: Analytical Tools (Data Analytics), Business Analytics, and Computational Data Analytics (Data Science).
• The total tuition for the program is under $12,000, with no GRE/GMAT requirement.
• The program starts in either Fall (August) or Spring (January).

Admission Requirements

• Applicants must have an undergraduate Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
• At least one college-level course or equivalent knowledge in:
  • Probability/statistics
  • Computer programming in Python at the level of Introduction to Computing in Python
  • Calculus and basic linear algebra
• Test scores (GRE or GMAT) are optional.

Admission Deadlines

• Spring Enrollment (January): Standard Application Deadline is June 15, and Final Application Deadline is August 1.
• Fall Enrollment (August): Standard Application Deadline is February 1, and Final Application Deadline is March 15.

• The program credit hours are 36, with a cost of $327 per credit hour.
• A mandatory online learning fee applies, ranging from $176 to $440 per term.
• Financial assistance options include education loans, employer tuition reimbursement, and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

Curriculum

• The program requires a minimum of 36 credit hours (12 courses) for completion.
• Foundational courses include:
  • CSE 6040 - Computing for Data Analytics
  • ISYE 6501 - Introduction to Analytics Modeling
  • MGT 8803 - Introduction to Business for Analytics
• Technical requirements for the OMS Analytics curriculum include access to a broadband or high-speed internet connection and the use of a headset with a microphone and webcam.

Career Development

• The program does not include job placement support.
• However, the degree is designed to prepare students for optimal on-the-job performance and to expand their expertise and grow professionally over time.

MicroMasters Program

• The Analytics: Essential Tools and Methods MicroMasters program is comprised of three foundational courses from Georgia Tech's full, interdisciplinary OMS Analytics degree.
• The program is offered by edX and is not a Georgia Tech degree, but the required outcomes, course experience, and course assessments are identical between the MicroMasters program courses and the corresponding OMS Analytics courses.
• Learners who complete the MicroMasters program certificate through edX and choose to continue their studies in analytics may apply the courses to the OMS Analytics degree program at Georgia Tech. NA
