The Master of Financial Technology (MFT) program is designed to address the evolving needs of the financial service industry by forging a new interdisciplinary teaching and research path. This program encompasses financial analysis, computational methods, and business analytics, providing students with employable skills in the development of algorithms and descriptive and predictive data analysis techniques in the domain of financial markets.

Program Description
The MFT program is delivered on campus and can be completed by taking 10 classes — five in computer science and five in finance and business analytics. It is designed for current Iowa State University students or professionals who are looking to come back to school full-time to retool or make a career shift.
Learning Goals
- Prepare students with employable skills, including the development of algorithms and descriptive and predictive data analysis techniques in the domain of financial markets
- Provide a thorough introduction to financial securities and the markets in which they are traded
- Help students better understand how technology can provide value to various market participants
- Increase student knowledge and experience with cutting-edge technology
- Display advanced technical skills to generate and analyze data and an enhanced ability to use that output to make informed financial decisions
