Program Overview

Master's Programme in Russian Language and Literature

The Master's Programme in Russian Language and Literature is designed for foreign applicants who wish to study Russian as a foreign language. The programme requires prior knowledge of Russian, equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Russian language. All courses are taught in Russian.

Programme Description

The programme includes both theoretical courses (lexicology, stylistics, history of the Russian language) and practical seminars (language of mass-media, translation, among others). It also provides various special courses on linguistic and literary themes, and specifically on the teaching of Russian as a foreign language.

Admission Criteria

Admission to the programme does not require a test in Swedish, as most courses are taught in Russian. The programme is primarily designed for Swedish- and Finnish-speaking students, but Russian-speaking students are also welcome. They will study not only Russian language and literature but also the theory and practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language.

  • Prior knowledge of Russian is required, equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Russian language.
  • Documents from the country of residence are considered, including those with a completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in various humanities specialties.
  • Priority is given to applicants who have completed university courses in Russian language, literature, and Russian history, similar to the programme's Bachelor's degree in Russian language.
  • Other factors considered include academic performance, work experience, motivation, and more.

Language Requirements

Knowledge of Swedish is not required prior to admission, but a language course in Swedish is mandatory for all foreign students. Students can also study Finnish (optional), English (optional), and other languages.
