Master's Programme in French Language and Literature

Programme Structure

The programme offers three different specializations: general, pedagogical, and "language and economy".


  • General Specialization: This specialization allows students to acquire in-depth knowledge of the French language and literature, combining language and literature courses with other subjects of their choice.
  • Pedagogical Specialization: This specialization aims to train students to become teachers of French as a foreign language, in collaboration with the Faculty of Education at Ĺbo Akademi University in Vaasa. Students participate in a pedagogy seminar specifically designed for teaching French as a foreign language, focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects.
  • Language and Economy Specialization: This specialization is based on an interdisciplinary approach, combining French language and literature with economics (at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics) and a second subject, either a language (English, German, Finnish, or Russian) or another field (such as psychology or sociology). Students can also take courses from the secondary blocks at the University of Turku.
