The Master of Arts (M.A.) English (Thesis) is a research-intensive program offered by the Department of English in the Faculty of Arts. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in critical reading, the communication of complex ideas, and reflection to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

Program Description

The program emphasizes engaging and disciplined learning opportunities, with a focus on research and independent study. The program culminates in a major piece of independent research, either a thesis or research paper, which is carried out under the supervision of a faculty member.

• All qualified applicants are considered for financial support
• The program brings together three different areas of study: Literature, Drama and Theater, and Cultural Studies
• Faculty members are affiliated with collaborative research projects in various fields, including Literary Studies and Theory, Cultural Studies, Drama and Theater, Literary History, Gender Studies, Medieval and Early Modern Studies, Victorian Studies, Modernism and the Twentieth Century, Decolonization and Contemporary Cultures, and Digital Humanities
• The thesis-based option can be completed in three academic terms (one year)

Admission Requirements

• An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
• English-language proficiency
  • Each program has specific admission requirements, including required application documents

Available Intakes and Application Deadlines

• Fall: Applications open on September 15, with an application deadline of January 15 for both international and domestic students
• Winter and Summer intakes are not available
• Application deadlines are subject to change without notice
