Overview of the Duke FinTech Master of Engineering Program
The Duke FinTech Master of Engineering program is designed to equip students with a strong grasp of fundamental skills in financial engineering, as well as the business, policy, and ethical dimensions of developing and deploying financial technology. Students can choose to learn on-campus or online, with the degree completion time varying from 12 months for the full-time on-campus option to 24-29 months for the part-time online option.

Degree Requirements
Courses
- 9 courses in total
- Two (2) Industry Preparation Core courses
- Four (4) Technical Core courses in FinTech, programming, and finance
- Three (3) FinTech Elective courses with the option to choose an elective track:
- Technology
- Technology Management
- Investment Management
Industry Capstone Project
The culminating experience of the Duke FinTech program, where students in teams design and build FinTech solutions initiated by industry needs or pursue their own startup ideas.
Internship or Project
A required internship is an excellent way to gain valuable experience. Although students are responsible for finding their own internships, Duke provides a dedicated career development team to help. Part-time students can receive credit for applying what they learn at work or opt to complete a project.

The choice of online or on-campus is up to the student. All students take the same courses, learn from the same faculty, and earn the same Duke degree.

Curriculum Schedules
On-Campus Program (Traditional Track) — Schedule
The Duke FinTech Master of Engineering can be completed on-campus in 3 or 4 semesters.
On-Campus Program (Accelerated Track) — Schedule
The Duke FinTech Master of Engineering can be completed in 12 months via the accelerated track. Note: A minimum of 2 years of work experience is required to be admitted into this track.
Online Program — Schedule
The Duke FinTech Master of Engineering can be completed online in five semesters.
Residency for Online Students
Provides an on-campus experience that bonds students to Duke and to each other, offering opportunities to participate in Duke-curated professional enrichment activities, including guest speakers, seminars, and workshops.
