Introduction to the MSQM: Health Analytics Program
The MSQM: Health Analytics program at Duke Fuqua is designed to develop transformational, data-centered health care leaders. Leveraging the Fuqua School of Business's deep expertise in business education and Duke University's longstanding prominence in health education, this program focuses on health care and teaches students how to leverage data-centered techniques to improve the effectiveness, quality, and accessibility of health care.
Curriculum
The curriculum is based on three pillars:

The program structure is likely to follow this format:
- Program Launch: A 2.5-day residency in Durham, NC.
- Term 1 - Online (12 weeks):

- Managerial Economics for Health Care: Assess firms' strategies and market outcomes in health care settings.
- Term 2 - Online (12 weeks):
- Business Fundamentals: Accounting and Finance: Cover the basics of financial accounting and finance.

- Data Analytics and Applications: Develop deep insights into modern analytics tools.

- Term 3 - Online (12 weeks):

- Electronic Health Records and Data Structure: Explore the fundamentals of data storage, cleaning, and retrieval.
- Advanced Data Analytics and Applications: Study how modern data science tools can be tailored to address business challenges.
- Term 4 - Online (12 weeks):
- Provider Operation Analytics: Use limited resources more effectively and increase patient satisfaction.
- Decision Models: Learn about decision models for evaluating different scenarios.
- Value-Based Care: Discover the implications of moving from a traditional fee-for-service model to value-based models.
- Term 5 - Online (12 weeks):
- Analysis of Healthcare Effectiveness and Outcomes: Learn how to design, implement, and interpret causal studies.

- Business Communication: Learn and practice techniques to communicate effectively in a business setting.

Teaching Methods
Faculty bring courses to life through lectures, class discussions, and case-based learning. The case-based learning method uses real-world business cases as the basis for discussions and team projects, challenging students to see business problems from a corporation's perspective.
