Overview of MPAcc/MAud Programs

The MPAcc Program is designed to educate future CFOs with international and strategic vision, to take initiative in the educational system of masters of professional accounting, and to educate future professional accountants to be highly qualified, versatile and at high levels, with keen insight, persistent learning capacity, deliberate reasoning, excellent leadership and precise execution. The MAud program is designed to fulfill China’s pushing needs of professional auditors in economic development, to improve educational system of auditors, to take initiative in educational model of auditors, and to enhance the quality of auditors.

MPAcc Program

By virtue of the comprehensive advantage in management science, SJTU ACEM’s MPAcc Program features internationalization, informationization, and socialization. The program is designed to educate future CFOs with international and strategic vision, to take initiative in the educational system of masters of professional accounting, and to educate future professional accountants to be highly qualified, versatile and at high levels, with keen insight, persistent learning capacity, deliberate reasoning, excellent leadership and precise execution.

Practical Courses

The MPAcc program has established branded courses such as strategic management, marketing, human resource management, and risk control. For core courses and professional courses, the MPAcc program is taught in the form of case studies and discussion. It builds the practice base and holds forums with corporations. It also invites many famous people from government, corporations, accounting offices, and investment banking to make speeches and exchange opinions with students.

Training System

• Internationalization: One-third of the courses are taught by foreign famous professors, another one-third are taught by domestic experts, and the rest of the courses are taught by senior professors of SJTU.
• Informational: Under a strong science and engineering background, the students will be guided to master modern information technology quickly. There is a large accounting computer lab. Special lectures are given by academic experts.
• Socialization: Antai is allied with famous corporations to build a practice base for MPAcc students. Students visit international accounting firms and offices, which also serves as a platform to communicate with students of EMBA and MBA.

MAud Program

Master of Auditing (MAud) is designed to fulfill China’s pushing needs of professional auditors in economic development, to improve educational system of auditors, to take initiative in educational model of auditors, and to enhance the quality of auditors. Maud diploma education is designed to educate future high-level practical auditors with good political and ideological quality and noble auditing professional ethics, systematic command of modern auditing theories and knowledge and skills in relevant fields, and international vision, strong practical professional ability, and innovation in coping with government auditing, public auditing and internal auditing.

Modules

• Core Course Module: The basic courses of the module are all the core courses of accounting. Through the study of these core courses, the students master basic theories and practices of their major.
• Unique Course Module: Shanghai Jiao Tong University is a comprehensive university which possesses a powerful background of engineering. Related courses such as information technology, mathematics, and statistics are taught in the program. In addition, in order to train high-level accountants, the MPAcc program has opened some Antai brand courses such as strategic management, marketing, human resources management, and organizational behavior.
• Social Practice Course Module: There are many differences between the academic background, work experience, and knowledge structure and interests of different students. Each student will choose courses to make up for the knowledge lacked according to his or her needs. Throughout the form of Antai Forum of Management and lectures, we provide students with knowledge and practice in capital markets, M&A, International Accounting Standards, International Standards on Auditing, Venture Capital, and humanistic philosophy, business etiquette, etc.
• Elective Courses: Electives are divided into four concentrations. These courses provide professional theories and methods for every group of students.

Integration of Modules and Requirements

The MPAcc program core courses are composed of degree courses, unique courses, practice, and elective courses. Non-degree courses, and those listed above together compose the curriculum of the MPAcc degree. MPAcc students will be given a training plan by the school three months after beginning studies, which will be posted on the MPAcc website. When making the training plan, the students should be advised that all the public and core courses are required courses. The social practice courses also have to meet the requirements, and the elective concentration courses will be determined by the interests and the total credits of students. If the numbers who choose one elective course is less than 20, the elective course will be canceled.
