Introduction to the Program

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at Peking University is now accepting applications for the 2025 academic year. This program is designed for international students and is taught in English.

Program Overview

• Duration: The program duration for master's students is 3 years, and for doctoral students, it is 4 or 5 years.
• Research Areas: The primary research areas include new energy materials, optoelectronic materials, biomaterials, functional structural materials, and carbon materials.
• Language Requirement: Applicants must have a good command of English. For those whose native language is not English, English proficiency certificates (such as TOEFL or IELTS) are required.

Eligibility Criteria

2. Academic Background: Master's applicants should have a bachelor's degree, and doctoral applicants should have a master's degree.

• Application Period: The application period is from October 14, 2024, to January 10, 2025.
• Application Fee: The application fee is 800 RMB per application.

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

• Tuition Fees: The tuition fee for master's students is 33,000 RMB per year, and for doctoral students, it is 40,000 RMB per year.
• Scholarships: The university offers various scholarships, including the Chinese Government Scholarship, Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship, and Peking University Scholarship.

Accommodation and Insurance

• Accommodation: International students can choose to live on or off campus. Those who live off campus must register with the local police station.
• Insurance: All international students must purchase medical insurance that covers them for the duration of their stay in China.

Graduation and Degree

• Degree: Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded a degree from Peking University.
• Graduation Requirements: Students must meet all the requirements set by the university, including completing coursework, passing the thesis defense, and fulfilling other academic obligations.
