The CAS ETH ReMain (Repair and Maintenance) is a Certificate of Advanced Studies program offered by ETH Zurich, focusing on the maintenance and repair capabilities of buildings and their components, as well as the economic viability of potential value preservation and enhancement concepts.


Program Description

The program aims to enable participants to recognize problems and potentials related to repairability, develop suitable sustainable solutions, and effectively communicate these to other stakeholders. The program's goal is to extend the lifespan of existing buildings and their components, reducing the need for new resources and materials.

Target Audience and Admission

Target Group

The CAS ETH ReMain program is designed for professionals in architecture, engineering, industrial design, real estate management, risk management, and related fields.


Requirements

  • The program is generally aimed at individuals with a Master's degree from ETH, an equivalent degree from another university, or an equivalent educational background.
  • Professional experience is desirable.

Program Structure

Duration and Format

  • The program is part-time, lasting 4 months, with instruction days on Thursdays, Fridays, and occasionally Saturdays.
  • The program is conducted in a group setting, where participants work on repair and maintenance strategies for an exemplary project.
  • Weekly lectures and excursions complement the project work.

Language

  • The primary language of instruction is German, but lectures may be held in English.

Upon completion, participants receive a Certificate of Advanced Studies «CAS ETH in Repair and Maintenance».

Program Leadership

The program is led by Prof. Dr. Silke Langenberg (Program Delegate) and Anne Fabritius (Program Coordinator), in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Mirko Meboldt and Prof. Dr. Markus Bambach of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT).


Partnerships

The program collaborates with various industry partners, including EMCH Aufzüge AG, Forster Swiss Home AG, Geilinger AG, Girsberger AG, and V-ZUG.
