Program Overview


Master of Science in Engineering Design & Innovation

The MSc in Engineering Design & Innovation at NUS is a dynamic programme where students team up with peers and professors to solve society’s toughest problems, including environmental sustainability, global warming, waste overload, urban congestion, and overconsumption.


Why the EDI Programme?

  • Develop an understanding of technology-based design and innovation strategies, and apply design thinking and product design methodologies to develop innovative solutions.
  • Gain multi-disciplinary perspectives and broader experiences, and develop the skills to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with extensive opportunities to hone communications skills.
  • Cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset to participate in design and innovation activities, which is much needed to enable value creation in any organisation.

Admission

The MSc programme only admits students once per academic year, with the application window open from 1 October to 28 February. Applications must be submitted via the NUS Graduate Admission System.


Programme News

  • The EDI community celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival with a potluck, featuring local Singaporean dishes and mooncakes, as well as snacks and specialties from Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Myanmar.
  • MSc EDI students participate in overseas immersion programmes, such as the UAE 2025 Overseas Expedition Programme, to broaden their horizons and explore new ideas.
  • Students embarked on a week-long immersion in Japan, visiting leading design labs, studios, and cultural institutions, offering valuable exposure to Japan’s unique blend of technological innovation, traditional craft, and design culture.
