Program Overview
Overview of Graduate Certificate in Coastal Protection and Flood Management (CPFM)
The Graduate Certificate in Coastal Protection and Flood Management (CPFM) is a program introduced by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to address the pressing issue of climate change and its impact on coastal communities. The program focuses on topical issues related to coastal protection and flood management, with a particular emphasis on climate change adaptation.
Eligibility
- Applications are open to individuals with a Bachelor's degree and relevant professional experience.
Application and Deadline
- Application for the January 2026 intake opens on 6 Oct 2025.
- The application deadline for the January 2026 intake is 3 Nov 2025.
Period of Candidature and Award of Graduate Certificate
- The maximum period of candidature is 2 years.
- The award of the Graduate Certificate is upon completion of 12 units with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.50 out of 5.00.
Alternative Pathway: Admission to Master of Science Programme
- Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate program, graduates with a GPA ≥ 3.00 may apply for a relevant MSc program, subject to approval by the host department.
- Successfully completed courses with a grade point ≥ 3.00 may be transferred, up to a maximum of 12 Units.
- Units transfer within 5 years from the award of the Graduate Certificate.
Course Fee and Refund Policy
- The course fee is SGD 1,450 (before GST) per unit of course.
- For a 100% refund for course registration cancellation, cancellation must be made in writing 14 days before the first day of lecture.
- Cancellation requests are subject to approval by the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.
- Fees paid are non-refundable after the above-mentioned period.

- CE5721A (2 units): Coastal Waves and Wind
- CE5721B (2 units): Coastal Environmental Loads
