Double Degree Programme in Business Administration and Law

The Double Degree Programme in Business Administration and Law is a prestigious five-year programme offered jointly by the School of Business and the Faculty of Law. The programme is established in line with NUS' aim of attracting the best students from Singapore and around the world, keen on having a quality education and leveraging on inter-disciplinary opportunities in a university ranked amongst the world's best.

Programme Description

This double honours BBA-LLB degree is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in both business and law, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in today's complex and interconnected world. The programme is highly regarded by employers, with many considering graduates with training in both business and law to be highly sought after.

Admission

There is a dual-entry system for the double degree programme:

1. Direct application by students with relevant G.C.E. A-Level or equivalent qualifications
2. Applications by current students from the School of Business or Faculty of Law, which are open only to students in Semester 2 of their first year of studies

Fresh G.C.E. A-Level Holders or those with equivalent qualifications

The requirements for admission and application details can be found under the Undergraduate Admissions section. Candidates will only be considered if they meet the requirements of both the School of Business and the Faculty of Law.

• School of Business:
  • Additional Mathematics in the G.C.E. O-Level examination or
  • H1 pass in Mathematics
• Faculty of Law:
  • Good G.C.E. A-level results and
  • At least B grade in H1 General Paper (GP) or a good pass in H2 Knowledge & Inquiry (KI); or a minimum SAT Critical Reading / Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 700 accompanied by a minimum E grade for GP/KI

Current BBA and Law Students

Current BBA students must have:

• At least B grade in H1 General Paper (GP) or a good pass in H2 Knowledge & Inquiry (KI); or a minimum SAT Critical Reading / Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 700 accompanied by a minimum E grade for GP/KI
• GPA at 4.0 and above, as at the end of the current academic year

Shortlisted candidates are required to sit for a written test and an interview. Selection shall be solely within the discretion of the University and will depend upon the number of places available in the programme.

Current Law students must have:

• Additional Mathematics in the G.C.E. O-Level examination or
• Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics at least at G.C.E. O-Level taken in the G.C.E. A-Level examination and
• Be in the top 50% of the class in their first year

Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview. Selection shall be solely within the discretion of the University and will depend upon the number of places available in the programme.

Courses and Schedules

These schedules are for reference and non-binding. Students should plan to fulfill their DDP requirements with respect to their programme requirements. Students may, or may not be allocated courses according to these schedules. Students need to plan ahead for alternative plans. All information is subject to changes without prior notice.

Fees

The fees payable by students in the double degree programme will be in accordance with University guidelines on tuition fees.

Exit

Students can choose to leave the programme, or can be required to leave if they fail to meet requirements. The exemptions from two business administration foundation courses, namely, BSP1004 / BSP1702 Legal Environment of Business and ES2002 / MNO2706 Business Communication will be extended for all exiting students on the condition that they have completed LC1005 Singapore Legal System / LC1015 Singapore Law in Context and LC1006 Legal Analysis, Writing & Research I / LC1016 Legal Analysis, Research & Communication respectively.

Students who choose to leave the double Honours degree programme are permitted to work instead for a single degree in their original home faculty. Direct entry students will have the choice of degree into which they exit. Later entry students will exit into their home faculty.

Students who pursue a single degree in Business Administration will receive Modular Credits for completed Law modules, the grades of which will be converted to the five-point scale and factored into GPA. The common modules can count towards Restricted Elective modules under the programme requirements for this group of students, and other Law modules can contribute towards Unrestricted Elective requirements, subject to the normal limits of the Faculty curriculum.

Students who pursue a single degree in Law will be considered for credit for their non-Law modules on a case-by-case basis.

Students must either maintain a GPA of 3.75 for the BBA(Hons) or remain in the top 50% of the Law cohort. With effect from AY2021/22 Cohort, the continuation and graduation requirements have been revised. Students must either maintain a GPA of 3.5 for the BBA(Hons) or remain in the top 75% of the Law cohort.

Those who fall below in both degrees for two consecutive semesters will be required to leave the programme. Similarly, direct entry students will have the choice of degree into which they exit. Later entry students will exit into their home faculty.

Students who do not qualify for the BBA(Hons) will graduate with a LLB/BBA, if all other conditions are met.

Student Exchange Programme (SEP)

Business students admitted after their first year

Home faculty – Business School

Students are permitted to go for an exchange for ONE semester during their Year 4 in either the 7th or 8th semester. The exchange will be administered by the NUS Business School and students are advised to apply during their Year 3.

Students admitted directly from A levels and for Law students admitted

Home faculty - Law

Students are permitted to go for an exchange for ONE semester during their Year 4 in either the 7th or 8th semester. The exchange will be administered by the NUS Business School and students are advised to approach the Business School’s Undergraduate Studies Office in their Year 3 5th semester. Students should choose Business courses and mapping will be done for courses read during the exchange programme.
