Program Overview

Double Degree Programme in Business and CNM

The Double Degree in Business and CNM is offered jointly by the NUS Business School and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This programme aims to nurture media-savvy business and business media professionals.

Programme Overview

In today’s global environment, the line separating communications & media studies and business is blurring. Graduates from communications and media programs are expected to perform tasks that entail business training, while business graduates are expected to know how to effectively communicate with a company’s publics, manage a crisis, or chart out technology trends.

The NUS Business programme prepares students for managerial leadership in the global economy. Its broad-based curriculum benefits from the comprehensive academic breadth and intellectual intensity of the national university. Articulate students who embrace technology will find a good fit in this CNM and Business double degree programme, which promises to nurture an attractive breed of media-savvy business professionals.

Programme Structure

The double degree program (DDP) offers six choices for students:

  • BBA(Hons)/BSocSci(Hons) – a double honours degree programme
  • BBA(Hons)/BA – a single honours double degree programme
  • BSocSci(Hons)/BBA – a single honours double degree programme
  • BBA(Acc.Hons)/BSocSci(Hons) – a double honours degree programme
  • BBA(Acc.Hons)/BA – a single honours double degree programme
  • BSocSci(Hons)/BBA(Acc) – a single honours double degree programme

Admission

Students will be admitted to the DDP only if they meet the requirements of both the NUS Business School (BIZ) and the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences (FASS). Students may be admitted to the DDP in one of the following ways:

  • Direct application by students with relevant “A”-level, Polytechnic, or equivalent qualifications
  • Application by students at the end of the first year of study in the FASS or Business School

Accountancy DDPs are not available for direct admission. Please apply at the end of Year 1.

FASS students who plan to enroll in this DDP after the first year are encouraged to read at least two Business courses to enable them to better understand the Business programme. Students applying to the Accountancy DDP must have obtained at least a B+ grade for ACC1701X Accounting for Decision Makers and preferably ACC2706 Managerial Accounting. Similarly, Business students who plan to enroll in CNM are encouraged to read at least two CNM courses. The grades of these exposure courses will be considered during the shortlisting process.

Current students have to apply to the DDP through their home Faculty/School, which will forward shortlisted applications to the partnering Faculty/School.

The minimum Grade Point Averages (GPA) requirement for acceptance to the DDP is 3.75 out of 5.0. The applicant will also need to meet the minimum prevailing admission criteria of both Faculty/School, that is, the applicant must have:

  • A pass in 'AO' Level Mathematics or 'O' Level Additional Mathematics, or otherwise demonstrated equivalent preparation

The applicant’s non-academic activities may be considered, and the applicant may have to attend an interview.

Fees

The fees payable by students in the double degree programme will be in accordance with University guidelines on tuition fees.
