Master of Computing (Infocomm Security Specialisation)

Overview

The National University of Singapore (NUS) Master of Computing (Infocomm Security Specialisation), also referred to as MComp InfoSec, aims to train Information Technology (IT) professionals to focus on building and reinforcing the cyber defences of the digital technologies and innovations that drive Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative, regional digitalisation and global technological advancement.

• The programme curriculum includes topics such as legal issues in information security, cryptography, biometric authentication, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Admission Requirements

Admission to the NUS MComp InfoSec programme is granted on a competitive basis as places in the programme are limited. Applicants should possess the following minimum requirements:

• Academic: Bachelor's Degree (preferably with Honours) in Computing, or Bachelor's Degree with Honours in a related discipline, or Bachelor's Degree (preferably with Honours) in a business-related discipline
• Skill/Experience: For holders of undergraduate qualifications other than a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Computing, two years of information technology (IT) industry experience
• English Language: Applicants whose medium of university instruction is not completely in English: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 90 (Internet-based), or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum Academic score of 6.0
• Other: International applicants: Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) minimum scores of 320 (Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning) and 3.5 (Analytical Writing), or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) minimum score of 650, or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores for graduates from Indian universities

Mode of Study and Programme Candidature

The NUS MComp programme is offered on the following basis (with estimated time to complete the programme indicated below):

• Full-time: 18 months
• Part-time: 30 months

Programme Structure

The NUS MComp InfoSec is a 40-Unit coursework-based Master’s Degree programme that offers three pathways to complete the programme:

• Coursework Option:
  • Specialisation courses (minimum 24 Units)
  • Non-specialisation courses (16 Units)
• Project Option:
  • Computing project (8 Units)
  • Specialisation courses (minimum 16 Units)
  • Non-specialisation courses (16 Units)
• Dissertation Option:
  • Dissertation (16 Units)
  • Specialisation courses (minimum 12 Units)
  • Non-specialisation courses (12 Units)

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from the NUS MComp InfoSec programme, students must meet the following requirements:

• Programme and/or Specialisation: Read and pass a total of 40 Units
• Course and/or Qualification: Refer to the respective Option in the Programme Structure above
• Grade Point Average (GPA): Minimum 3.0 (out of maximum 5.0)

Fees

The University reserves all rights to review fees as necessary and adjust accordingly without prior notice.

• Tuition: S$61,600.00 (excluding GST) / S$67,144.00 (including 9% GST)
• Application: S$109.00 (including 9% GST) Non-refundable and non-transferable
• Acceptance: S$6,714.40 (including 9% GST) Payable upon acceptance of offer Non-refundable and non-transferable Will be credited towards tuition fees
• Miscellaneous Student Fees: As published by Office of the University Registrar Payable every regular semester
