Master of Computing in Artificial Intelligence

The National University of Singapore (NUS) Master of Computing in Artificial Intelligence (MComp in AI) is offered by the NUS School of Computing. This comprehensive and challenging graduate programme provides advanced and in-depth knowledge of Information Technology (IT) to prepare students for the challenges of an IT career.


Programme Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly recognised as an important source of economic growth nationally and globally, leading to growing demand for AI-focused education and training for careers in industry as well as research. MComp in AI aims to meet this need by providing systematic breadth-and-depth training in advanced principles, algorithms, and applications in AI.

Application for Admission

  • The application period for the MComp in AI programme is from 1 October of the year preceding the intake year to 31 January of the intake year.
  • The application outcome will be released via the online Graduate Admission System by the end of May or June.

Admission Requirements

  • Academic: Bachelor's Degree (preferably with Honours) in Computing, or Bachelor's Degree with Honours in a related discipline, or Bachelor's Degree (preferably with Honours) in a business-related discipline.
  • Skill/Experience: For holders of undergraduate qualifications other than a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Computing, two years of information technology (IT) industry experience.
  • English Language: Applicants whose medium of university instruction is not completely in English must provide Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 90 (Internet-based), or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum Academic score of 6.0.
  • Other: International applicants must provide Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) minimum scores of 320 (Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning) and 3.5 (Analytical Writing), or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) minimum score of 650, or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores for graduates from Indian universities.

Mode of Study and Programme Candidature

  • The NUS MComp in AI programme is offered on a full-time basis (18 months) and part-time basis (30 months).
  • International applicants must be accepted into an approved full-time course in Singapore to apply for a Student’s Pass.

Programme Structure

  • The NUS MComp in AI is a 40-Unit coursework-based Master’s Degree programme that offers two pathways to complete the programme:
    • Coursework Option: Comprises core/essential courses (20 Units) and elective courses (20 Units).
    • Dissertation Option: Comprises core/essential courses (12 Units), elective courses (12 Units), and a dissertation (16 Units) on a topic related to AI.

Elective Courses

  • Students may choose any of the level 4000 to 6000 courses offered by the School of Computing as electives.

Graduation Requirements

  • To graduate from the NUS MComp in AI programme, students must meet the following requirements:
    • Read and pass a total of 40 Units.
    • Refer to the respective Option in the Programme Structure above.
    • Achieve a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (out of a maximum 5.0).

Fees

  • Tuition: S$61,600.00 (excluding GST) / S$67,144.00 (including 9% GST).
  • Application: S$109.00 (including 9% GST), non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Acceptance: S$6,714.40 (including 9% GST), payable upon acceptance of offer, non-refundable and non-transferable, and will be credited towards tuition fees.
  • Miscellaneous Student Fees: As published by the Office of the University Registrar, payable every regular semester.

Scholarships & Financial Assistance

  • The University offers various scholarships and financial assistance schemes to eligible students, including the NUS Master's by Coursework Enhanced Tuition Fee Rebate and the SG Digital Scholarship (Postgraduate).
