Programme Overview
The Graduate Diploma in Family Practice Dermatology [GDip (FP Derm)] is a joint programme offered by the Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS) and the National Skin Centre (NSC). The programme aims to equip Medical Officers or General Practitioners with the knowledge and skills to deal with skin diseases at a primary care level.
Programme Components
- The programme is conducted in a distance-learning format (E-Learning) and consists of 5 Courses.
- Course 1: Introduction to Dermatology and Common Skin Conditions in Family Practice
- Course 2: Dermatitis and Drug Eruptions
- Course 3: Infective, Pigmentary, Blistering and Neoplastic Skin Diseases and Common Skin Diseases in Children and the Elderly
- Course 4: Regional Dermatology and Principles of Dermatologic Surgery
- Course 5: The Skin in Systemic Disease

Intake Date
The programme commences in May annually and is subject to a minimum uptake of 28 students. The maximum capacity for each intake is 30 students.
Admission
Eligibility Criteria
- Hold a recognised basic medical degree
- Possess a valid Singapore Medical Council (SMC) Practising Certificate
- Have a minimum of 5 years of general clinical experience post-housemanship
- Meet the English language proficiency requirement for overseas foreign doctors or non-recognised MBBS degrees

- Submit an online application via Graduate Admission System (GDA3) by the stipulated closing date
- Required documents:
- Recent passport-sized photograph
- Certified true copy/scanned coloured copy of identification documents, recognised basic medical degree certificate, valid practising certificate from SMC, and other medical qualifications
- CV with 150-200 words on what interests you in applying for the programme
- At least 2 Testimonials from direct Heads of Department/Supervisors
- English Language Proficiency Test scores (if applicable)

Withdrawal
Deferment Policy
Students who wish to defer must write to DGMS, citing the reason for deferment and providing supporting evidence where applicable, after acceptance of placement.
Withdrawal Policy
- All withdrawal and refund requests will be subjected to 10% administrative charges capped at SGD500.00
- Requests must be submitted within 14 calendar days from the last day of Examination end date or before the programme commencement date
- Supporting documents must be submitted via email in all cases after submission of the online request
- The Division will generally consider providing refunds to candidates under medical, pregnancy, involvement in an accident, or compassionate grounds
- Requests for refund under lack of preparedness, failure to arrange time away from work, or inability to secure a visa will not be considered
