Program Overview


M.Sc. in Chemical Sciences Application

The M.Sc. in Chemical Sciences program at the National University of Singapore has one intake per academic year in August. The application process involves two cycles: Early Admission and Regular Admission.


Application Period

  • Early Admission cycle: 16 May to 15 July, with application outcome by 30 September.
  • Regular Admission cycle: 1 October to 15 March, with application outcome by 30 May.

Application Fee

  • The application fee is S$100 (inclusive of prevailing GST), which is non-refundable and payable when submitting online application materials.

Offer Acceptance Fee

  • The offer acceptance fee is S$5,450 (inclusive of prevailing GST), which is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Instruction for Application

  • All applicants should apply online via the Graduate Admission System.
  • Applicants should browse the User Guide before applying.
  • No changes are allowed once the application is submitted.
  • Inaccurate/incomplete applications will not be processed.

Supporting Documents

  • Proof of Residence:
    • Singapore Citizens & Singapore Permanent Residents: Identity Card (Pink/Blue NRIC)
    • International Applicants: Passport with valid dates (information page) and Work Pass (Employment Pass), Long-Term Visit Pass, Dependent’s Pass, and other Passes (if applicable)
  • Transcript(s): Official transcript from each university or college attended, including the university’s grading system and Grade Point Average (GPA) document.
  • Degree Scroll(s): A degree scroll is a document conferred upon a student after completing the required courses in the programme and meeting the graduation requirements.
  • Valid TOEFL/IELTS score report: Applicants from countries whose native language is not English and whose medium of university instruction is not conducted completely in English will need to upload the official score sheet of TOEFL (≥85) or IELTS (≥6.0) as evidence of their proficiency in the English language.
  • Financial support: Applicants will need to select “Self-Support” under the Source of Finance field and upload a financial statement.
  • Other Supporting Documents: Resume/CV, scholarships, awards, and prizes received, professional certificates, etc.

Important Notes

  • All supporting documents must be uploaded in pdf format by the application closing date.
  • Official English translations must be provided if the original document is not in English.
  • All supporting documents must be named in the specified format before uploading them in the Graduate Admission System.
  • The total file size of all uploaded documents in the application portal is 10 MB.
  • Referee Reports, Personal Statement, and GRE Reports are not required for application to the programme.
  • Applicants do not need to arrange to send the official IELTS/TOEFL test scores from the test centre to the programme.
  • No candidate may concurrently be a student for more than one degree or register as a NUS candidate and of another university/institute.
  • Applicants must produce the originals of all supporting documents when requested if admitted to the programme.
  • Inaccurate, false information or omission of necessary supporting documents or no payment of application fee will render your application invalid. The University reserves the right to reject applications that are incomplete or inaccurate. Persons admitted on the basis of inaccurate or false information may be expelled.
